It is my pleasure to offer you this STUNNING ANTIQUE SHEPHERD with HERD CZECH AMPHORA
In 1892 Eduard Stellmacher, the brothers Hans and Carl Rießner and Rudolf Kessel started a ceramics factory in Turn-Teplitz in Bohemia, part of the Austrian Empire at that time. AMPHORA AUSTRIA strongly competed with Royal Dux for the best ceramics of that time. In 1905 Stellmacher left the company and Kessel left in 1910 so the brothers continued the AMPHORA WERKE RIESSNER from that moment. After WWII in 1918 Bohemia became a part of Czecho-Slovakia .
This exceptional group was produced in the very early years of last century. It shows the tired shepherd resting on his (invisible) stick. His dog is alert and his sheep (Mother, Father and daughter) graze at ease.
Marked at the bottom with an imprinted oval with "AMPHORA", imprinted "5055" and "28", a blue underglaze "E" and some more underglaze pencil marks.
A high quality and sturdy but detailed item with wonderful colors under a thick glossy glaze. Huge and heavy, deserving a prominent but spacy place in your room.
